そもそも、ソフトウェア開発に「見積もり」ってどこまで必要なんだろう？ #NoEstimates
A PM asked the team to deliver 15 PBI/sprint. The team said YES. Historical data said 5-8. I bet on 7. Reality delivered seven. 🎯
Stop fighting the data.

How in the green, green earth do you DON'T estimate?

If you assigned 1 story point to every story, how much slicing would you do before you were confident you could actually complete each story in a day or so? Congratulations! You just discovered #NoEstimates. Stop trying to fit the estimate to the story. Start slicing the stories.
It’s becoming painfully clear to me that time estimating software dev is impossible, and we’re wasting time trying to do it anyway. #NoEstimates
Had a great time at HG Nights last night, continuing my campaign to save software development with my "Story Points are Pointless" talk! Thanks for having me out @hackgvl! #NoEstimates #Agile

@DanielGlejzner #noestimates. Estimates aren't promises. The work delivered should always be of high quality. Developers should be focused on delivering the most valuable features first. If you have a deadline then you have to be open to scope changes.

Not even a world-class doomsday AI can produce accurate software estimates, so why should developers?
#noestimates
#NoEstimates would have gained exactly zero traction within the agile community if the effort that agile teams are required to put into projecting their cost and/or timeline added real, tangible value in practice.
@allenholub #NoEstimates is a challenge to those who believe that estimates of cost, time, or effort are necessary in software development. It is an invitation to re-think the reasons we use estimates.
@allenholub What do you do when the developers themselves defend the estimates and you're the only one who doesn't see the value in it? It’s frustrating and when I talk about #noestimates and other things people look at me as if I’m crazy.
@allenholub Anything is corruptible, but some things resist corruption more than others and other things aid corruption more than others.
Businesses hate #NoEstimates because #NoEstimates is harder to corrupt.
Businesses love #Agile because agile is easier to corrupt.
@phillip Story points are an abomination that have no redeeming characteristics or value, IMO. I was an early advocate of #NoEstimates.
Maybe instead of #NoEstimates, it should be #WhyBother. We all know they don’t work. Estimates are the worst sort of productivity theater, given that nobody believes that they’re even close to accurate.
Dev lead said the project would take 9 months from start to finish
that was 2 years ago
@trunarla Most estimates are useless. What really matters is to know what is the most important next thing. How long it takes is irrelevant most of the time
