2. Does it make you fulfilled?

Julian: My "ah ha" moment is when you're working on something and it takes days, weeks, months but they finally get it! #NSCAAlive
Julian: good or bad, the competition level (is also why I coach). #NSCAAlive
Julian: What makes coaching great is that we get to make an impact on individuals in a way that's different. #NSCAAlive
Meghan: Coaching allows you to teach lessons that will stay with players well beyond the field #NSCAAlive
Meghan (why do you coach): To make an impact! I like to think of coaches as teachers and the field is our classroom #NSCAAlive
Evan: It's a balance between caring and tough love aspect. You have to care about both the player AND the person #NSCAAlive
Meghan (playing "bad cop"): You have to be honest with players. "If this is what you want, it's not always a free ride." #NSCAAlive
Meghan: Adaptability is also important. You need to adapt, your team needs to adapt. All these aspects you can't control #NSCAAlive
Evan: Empathy is also an important characteristic. You need to understand where the player is coming from. #NSCAAlive
Evan: You have to be a learner. Take coaching education every year. The game is changing so fast & so big and complex #NSCAAlive
Evan: Humility is an important skill in this profession. You have to recognize no one knows it all and no one does #NSCAAlive
Evan: Our role as coach is more so to encourage and model, rather than impose. We need to show them that we're living it #NSCAAlive
Evan: There's a difference between imposing and goalsetting (to Meghan's point). #NSCAAlive
Goals for players (Meghan): It's hard to impose goals (because you want their buy-in) but allowing them to set the goals is key #NSCAAlive
Grant: I set out a few years ago to do a coaching course every year #NSCAAlive
