$NWBO 🌍 Two Announcements. One Quiet Revolution. In the span of days, the two most important regulatory bodies for DCVax-L—the FDA and the MHRA—just announced sweeping changes. Not in response to each other. Not coordinated. But unmistakably aligned. This isn’t bureaucracy. It’s positioning. ⸻ 🇸 FDA | The Shift From Rigor to Relevance Dr. Vinay Prasad, historically a critic of accelerated approvals, now signals a new era: “We will act at the first sign of promise for rare diseases.” It’s a profound statement—not just procedural, but philosophical. He’s acknowledging that in diseases like GBM, waiting for Phase 3 perfection costs lives. This isn’t lowering the bar. It’s shifting the axis of judgment: from “ideal design” to real-world consequence. DCVax-L fits this perfectly. It already: •Used real-world data and external controls •Delivered long-tail survival benefits •Published in JAMA Oncology and validated by independent statisticians Now, instead of having to explain its design, DCVax-L becomes the model the FDA just described. ⸻ 🇬🇧 MHRA | From Regulator to Catalyst Across the Atlantic, the UK government issued a formal directive: All regulators—including MHRA—must actively support economic growth and expedite innovative therapies. This isn’t lip service. It comes with: •A Regulatory Innovation Office for high-potential biotech •Explicit permission to favor SMEs and novel platforms •A mandate to shorten approval cycles For NWBO, which: •Built its GMP infrastructure in the UK •Submitted to MHRA in Dec 2023 •Secured Innovation Passport via ILAP …this changes the regulatory tone completely. The MHRA is no longer the gatekeeper—it’s now part of the launch team. ⸻ 🔁 The Feedback Loop No One’s Saying Out Loud Here’s the strategic nuance: •If MHRA moves first, the FDA has political and regulatory cover to mirror that decision. •If the FDA acts first, MHRA gains validation and economic urgency to follow immediately. They’ve each built infrastructure to not fall behind. The shared language—RWE, platform readiness, rare disease flexibility—isn’t accidental. It’s a silent handshake, shaped by necessity and strategy. ⸻ ⏳ So What About Timing? Let’s talk straight. •MHRA has had the application for nearly 6 months. •A standard ILAP track suggests a June–August 2025 decision. •With the UK’s new growth-first policy in place as of May, delaying DCVax approval would now contradict national strategy. Meanwhile, the FDA just handed itself permission to act without waiting for perfect trials. For a therapy like DCVax-L—with 15 years of safety, peer-reviewed efficacy, and scalable infrastructure—that green light can flip any time. ⸻ 🔭 The Real Insight Regulators are not just clearing a path for DCVax-L. They’re building the rulebook around it. Because here’s the unspoken truth: Approving DCVax-L is no longer just a scientific decision. It’s a chance to prove these new frameworks actually work. And the first company to walk through that door? It won’t just benefit—it’ll define the precedent. ⸻ The stage is set. The silence isn’t doubt—it’s choreography.
