A personal victory. But one that’s come at a big cost. And whilst it’s good news for me, it doesn’t help all the other victims of domestic abuse who are facing their abuser being back on the streets earlier than they should. The answer? We need to #NameDA in law

Elizabeth Hudson has successfully stopped the early release of her violent ex-partner, Martin Underwood, after discovering a major clerical error in court documents. She talks to @kategarraway and Richard about her campaign and the impact that it has had on her.

So grateful to @JoshBabarinde for leading the charge on this and highlighting the issues my own case raises, as well as the impact on so very many other victims and survivors of having no specific DA offences in law. It’s time to #nameDA

“They’ve tried to say, we’re going to exclude domestic abusers from early release. The problem is they can’t do that because there isn’t a specific offence.” It’s “bonkers” that domestic violence isn’t recognised as a specific criminal offence, says @JoshBabarinde MP.

If you haven’t added your support to the #NameDA campaign, pls do. Early release has been horrendous for domestic abuse victims like me. This Bill will help change all that… https://t.co/l1A7BfEURE

"There are no specific offences of domestic abuse in the law, abusers hiding behind convictions like ABH are being let out early. This is not right." @JoshBabarinde on his bill to protect victims of domestic abuse.

Currently, there is no specific offence of domestic abuse in the law. This needs to change. Survivors must be respected and protected. On @GMB, I launched our campaign to create a specific set of domestic abuse offences. Join the campaign: https://t.co/WjS0jergm5 #NameDA

So pleased that @JoshBabarinde is taking this on and pushing for the change we need. Really pleased to be able to add my voice to the campaign on @GMB this morning #nameDA

Let's close the loophole that means some abusers are convicted of offences that don't specify the nature of their crimes. I've presented a bill in Parliament and gone on @GMB to launch the #NameDA campaign publicly. Join the campaign at https://t.co/mVhY2IDWvr
