The family’s attempt to seek affordable, quality care in public hospitals failed, forcing them to return to expensive private facilities. The decline of our public health institutions, especially the Mulago National Referral Hospital, reflects a deeper national crisis, one of policy neglect, chronic underfunding, and a failure to uphold the constitutional right to health. We call on the Government of Uganda to urgently prioritize health system reforms and increased public investment in health care.
