When my second book #nativebook came out, I realized that my first book, #gloryhappening had prepared me for the journey.
And now, with my third book coming out next year, I’m continuing the journey. I’m so grateful for all of you who have joined me along the way!
The new book #Keepunumuk tells a version of the Thanksgiving story- through the perspective of the Native people who have always been there.
Written by @Anthony_J_Perry, @Heron_Hill and @acbunten, illustrated by #GarryMeechesSr. https://t.co/6TZKodoUFu

One year ago I was chosen as Georgia Author of the Year in the Inspirational category. I’ll never take that honor for granted. And I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported my words #nativebook
Recording #NativeBook (which I had to fight to record myself) was a true gift, and brought the book to life for me in a new way.
I hope that if you've listened to it, it has been a gift to you, too.
In honor of #NativeBook's 2-year birthday, I have a few asks:
1. Grab a copy of Native for a friend who might need it?
2. If you’ve read it, can you take a moment to tell me how it spoke to you?
3. Find and buy books by some other Indigenous authors and celebrate their work?

🔥👏🏼TWO years ago, #NativeBook was released into the world!👏🏼🔥
TWO YEARS.
I’m so grateful to every open-hearted reader who took a chance with me,
to everyone who emailed to say that they saw themselves in my words,
to everyone who struggled but kept going.

Second, I’ve noticed that people are really uncomfortable with the fact that, at least in #NativeBook (and surprise! In my next book too!) I give you a lot more questions than answers. That’s because I believe you have the answers/gifts inside of you. Take some time to find them.
Wow. It's been 2 years since those days of constantly worrying if the book would even make it to print. 2 years since hearing from events and realizing I'd have no physical book tour. 2 years since everything pivoted. I am so grateful for #NativeBook.
I finished writing #NativeBook from a friend's Airstream rental in their yard. Just saying, it literally takes a community. We don't do this work alone.
I write about decolonization a lot in #NativeBook, and I really believe there are micro and macro elements to this work.
But trying to "decolonize" without truly being dedicated to change when it comes to violence toward Indigenous peoples and the land is empty.
I love it when people tell me, "your book made me uncomfortable, I kept reading, and it changed me" rather than the "progressive" woman who kept reading but told me she really wanted to throw it in the trash after every chapter because I hate white people. #NativeBook
Next, I hope it reminds us that our humanness matters, and words matter. I will be challenging my own thoughts here, and I hope you challenge yours, too. We have so much to learn—together.
As I share in #NativeBook:

...In a world in which white supremacy still holds power, we remain, our words remain, our stories remain to tell us who we have always been, and all of that is political because our very existence works as a larger narrative of liberation, freedom, and peace."
