#Glastonbury #NimbusCard @glastonbury now requires #disabled people seeking access facilities to have a @nimbusdis Access Card or Glastonbury Digital Access Pass. If you think private verification shouldn’t sit between people and access, ask why: [email protected]

@LuxMeaMundiAM Unfortunately it’s incredibly difficult to avoid. All entertainment venues and attractions I use seem to be using the #NimbusCard - and only that card - as proof of access needs.

How did the @nimbusdis access card become the be all and end all proof of disability? There’s so many other cards, letters, etc that can prove an impairment for free. #NimbusCard

If no other evidence is accepted, registration isn’t optional — it’s a condition of access. Equality Act rights don’t depend on schemes or cards. That’s gatekeeping, not equality. #NimbusCard

There’s no legal requirement to register a disability to access reasonable adjustments. Equality Act rights exist because you’re disabled, not because you joined a scheme. “Optional” cards + compulsory registration = gatekeeping & conditional access. #NimbusCard 🧶

A system where non-disabled people book instantly, while disabled people must apply, disclose personal information, and wait days to be “considered” during time-limited ticket sales, creates a foreseeable disadvantage That is not a reasonable adjustment #EqualityAct #NimbusCard

Many disabled people need 2:1 support to access the community safely. If the Nimbus Access Card only recognises +1, it excludes those with higher support needs. How is that fair or inclusive? Accessibility must reflect real needs, not fit a template. #NimbusCard

Disabled people shouldn’t have to fill in PIP-style forms, hand over private data & pay a fee just to go out with a carer. Requiring a Nimbus Access Card blocks spontaneous access & creates a two-tier system. This isn’t inclusion. #NimbusCard

We planned to visit Knowsley tomorrow, only to discover you must have a Nimbus Access Card — applied for at least 10 days in advance — to get a carer in. How is this not blocking access? Disabled people shouldn’t be excluded by admin and paywalls. #NimbusCard #DisabilityRights 🧵
