Let’s quickly unite ourselves in great numbers, create the innovative tools and systems we need and want to work with, and then work together to solve our community and individual problems and create opportunities for us. I propose that we create an equally owned national cooperative economic network of more than 100 million Americans, who pool $100 each to share more than $10 billion dollars of economic leverage and the power created by so much money and so many people with different knowledge, skills, and resources, etc., working together using a custom-designed dynamic communication system. Organized by zip codes, members might exercise shared power on national, state, county, and local levels to accomplish all sorts of goals. Let’s quickly unite ourselves in great numbers, create the innovative tools and systems we need and want to work with, and then work together to solve our community and individual problems and create opportunities for us. How do we go about fixing our dysfunctional societies, economies, and governments? If we are going to take on this noble task, we first must become a group (or groups) that is (are) capable of effecting the changes that we decide we need and/or want. That is what I proposed more than 22 years ago. I’m still proposing the same basic Idea: that Americans become an equally owned national cooperative economic network, and that citizens of other Countries make similar efforts to unite and work together (if legally possible). It was and is my hope that once people within these national networks have learned how to work together well, these networks might one day work well together. These days, there seems to be little trust and respect in the world. During my 20 years as a Chicago firefighter, I enjoyed the trust and respect that firefighters earned in Chicago and around the world, before, during and after my career. And the people, who I worked with, were/are as diverse as the general public we serve(d). We worked remarkably well together to accomplish our mission to protect life and property, and to peacefully coexist – on and off the job. But nothing is perfect. Perhaps we should consider creating something like a socioeconomic fire department to help us earn each other’s trust & respect and make our lives better. Sincerely, John G.
