The Fanta School ads were a series were weirder and weirder teachers did weird things and depressed the students til they would go sit on a hill and drink a Fanta and feel better.
This is 3-L with Bubble-Sensei. She reps the late 80s, early 90s economic prosperity bubble era in Japan. Can't really explain the joke of this one, but I will try. The poem on the board is by Matsuo Basho, presumably Japanese most legendary poet (?) but the teacher reads it with some of the words backwards, like ikefuru instead of furuike. That's a thing we do here sometimes. Ima assume it originated in the bubble era. Teach calls on a student and she answers correctly, but teach says she is wrong for not saying the name backwards.
(My fave is 3-P Drone-Sensei, who flies about the classroom hung from a drone, but accidentally flies out the window with the test papers, and a kid laments that the whole town knows his grades.)

For linguistic reasons, I avoid #SB19 like the plague. But I'm #Taiwan-obssessed so, of course, I live up #JolinTsai's left nostril.
Already listened and freaked out about the collision of worlds that is #Emoji last week. I thought I had put it behind me, but then @aj_ns7 went and reacted with #KPopBeat, and this is how SB19 finally gets me. Not a question. Just a new reality. 😭
In case you are less of a Taiwan maniac than me, lemme introduce Goddess Jolin/ #蔡依林/ #TsaiYiLin. Known as the #QueenOfCPop, she's been in the industry almost 30 years. Her songs quite often have a lot of social commentary and some were even part of Taiwan's fight for marriage equality. (Go watch the video for #WeAreAllDifferentYetTheSame.) If you've seen one of my two fave Taiwanese movies, #MarryMyDeadBody then you have already heard her voice on the theme song, #Untitled. She's so iconic that the song in the legendary nekkid pole dance scene is also hers.

(You can check if you can watch from abroad. I would guess no though. 1. Japanese digital content tends overwhelmingly not to be available abroad. 2. Only Japan tour dates have happened so far. While they did allow recording at the venue - super rare in Japan - I don't know they would want to give out the whole concert themselves. But I could be wrong.)

3. I was not #TheOnlyBlackGirlInTheScene for #RomanticsAnonymous. We had a room full of diverse faces. It was my first #notBL. I went because the main lead is my fave Japanese actor, Oguri Shun.
I weaseled my way into the Spanish team cheering section bc my friend was in there. Only one of us was actually from Spain, but all of us spoke Spanish.
We were the loudest cheering section. The AD had to record some cheers seperately, and his words of advice were, "Spain, you got this! Everybody else, be like Spain." 😂 That's what happens when you put all the Latin souls in a room together.
Spain happened to be right next to the actual actors too. So I discovered the guy right obliquely next to me was also a north-easterner, so I got his instagram to cheer him on. He's a baby actor and I think it was his first project.
Then, Oguri Shun came over to talk to the baby actors during a break. And all of Spain was watching me and giggling because I had gone on and on about how much I loved him. I probably did not break for that whole five minutes.
This was my first time ever doing a multi-day shoot. Fun fact, these scenes were shot during a typhoon. Cuz nothing in Japan stops for typhoons. We were indoors anyhow.
I shot these scenes on the Thursday and Friday, then spent the Saturday on site for my first movie.

Somebody just reminded me this madness exists. Which is kind of hilarious, cuz I own the DVD and can literally see it from here. #HighSchoolDebut is from over a decade ago, and I legit just noticed that's our boy, #FurukawaYuki (#RestartAfterComeBackHome, #MeMyHusbandAndMyHusbandsBoyfriend, #FavoritismOfTheGods).
I was in my #MizobataJunpei phase back then, rewatching Red Thread every other minute and bawling my face off. (Part of the reason Japan rarely gets me to cry after 17 years. They done drained my soul eons ago...) To this day, the theme song from that is my top go-to Japanese song. (#366Days)
This movie is about a girl who lived for softball in junior high and decides to "debut" in high school by getting popular and finding a boyfriend. Ironically, it is also main actress, #OhnoIto's debut. I absolutely love her over-the-top ridiculousness as she attempts to be normal.
Also, randomly, I've had this recurring scene of a character trying to shoo away other characters following her stuck in my head for months (years?) but could not place it. But now I think it might be from this. Guess I am rewatching tomorrow night...

#OurHakoneEkiden will be set at #HakoneEkiden, probably Japan's most popular roadrace. Taking place right at the beginning of the year, when the whole country (except retailers) is on vacation, the race features 20 teams from Kanto universities (Tokyo and the prefectures around it). Unlike real life, there is no way the show will give us 200 athletic university-faced actors, but a rabbit can dream.

The #SailorMoon live-action adaptation is absolute campy chaos and I love it.
Fun Fact: Sailor Mars, #KitagawaKeiko is now one of Japan's most famous actresses, but this is where she got her start.
Random: I think this is the fight Venus rolls up to late. Venus (whose actress #KomatsuAyaka is 2 degrees of seperation from me in real life cuz we both from Iwate and I know one of her teachers) unfortunately lives in high heels, and this floor (place looks familiar - Is this Big Site?) is the shiniest marble. There is a whole blooper reel of her running in and not being able to stop and just skating into the action. 😂
Might be time to pop out my DVDs for some nostalgia...
