Todd Ireland, a #ReBootTGC writer, claimed Mark's character wasn't living in the basement (there's a bed in the room he runs out of). That he was: "a great son who takes care of his mother and that’s his man cave".

@TempestShadeow They didn't care to cater to nostalgia with this. The writer (wasn't a "lead" anything on the original) was told about the #NotMyReBoot tweets & wrote this episode as a response to the fandom's displeasure with TGC's premise. So yes, it's sole purpose was to ridicule and degrade.
@SjwSpiderman Oh there was, and to a degree still is TONS of outrage over it (see #NotMyReBoot). But the first 10 episodes were all available in March and after a while people said what they had to about those episodes and moved on. The remaining 10 aired on YTV in July and weren't any better.

Apparently Michael Dowding views ReBoot fans who use #NotMyReBoot as "trolls". As I'm the one who started that hashtag, it wasn't a "smear campaign", but a way to express our anger/disappointment at the concept of #ReBootTGC.
When I bought the #BringBackReBoot shirt years ago, I wasn't asking for this...
