• Prayer = communication line with God
• God knows the desires of our heart
• God wants prayer to be the mark of Christian life (Daniel , Acts , Acts , Romans 12, Colossians 4:2)
• We should give thanks (Psalm 118, Hebrews)
• Giving thanks is an attitude that loves and cares for the Lord
• Rejoice, pray, give thanks are commands for believers and should be how believers are distinguished from the World
• Commands from God are not suggestions, they are orders and responsibilities
• The will of God and our circumstances
• Our circumstances will fluctuate, but must still rejoice, pray, and give thanks in all situations
• How is your attitude towards God and one another during trials and tribulations? Are you rejoicing? Are you praying? Are you giving thanks?
• We don’t give thanks for problems, we give thanks God is with us in the midst of our problems
• Too many Christians expect God’s will to be sweet and pleasant all the time
• God uses different circumstances to build our faith
• The will of God and our human will
• Not my will, but thy will be done (Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 1:1, 2 Corinthians 7:9-10)
• Will of God = God’s perfect sovereign Will
• Will of God = Revealed Will
• Will of God = Permissive Will of God
• We have free will to oppose God’s will
• God wants us to obey God’s will lovingly
• Man’s will dominates your life if it’s all about “I”
• God’s will requires denying your self
• People will twist God’s Word to satiate man’s will
• Man’s free will doesn’t supersede God’s will
• We need to learn to align ourselves with God’s will
• If your will is off track you need to confess, repent, pray, then surrender, and let the Word of God rule in your life

#NotesFromChurch
A Heart of Gratitude- Colossians 1
• Christians shouldn’t need a holiday to be grateful
• No matter what we’ve been through there is something the believer can be thankful for: Jesus
• Are you going to be like the 9 lepers or the 1?
• God qualified us (Romans 8:3)
• The requirement is 100% holy
• We could not meet the requirement on our own
• The Law is like a mirror: it shows that we’re dirty but can’t clean us (Romans 3:20)
• God rescued us (Colossians 1:13, Thessalonians 1:10)
• God’s wrath = Being separated from God for all eternity
• God transferred us (Colossians 1:13, Ephesians 2:1-7)
• God redeemed us (Colossians 1:14, 1 Peter 1:18-19)
• Redeemed = bought back
• We were redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ
• God forgave us (Colossians 1:14, Psalms 103:12, Micah 7:18-19)
• Our sins have been removed not because of our actions but because of our savior
• God pardons the believers sins: a clean record
• Pardon ≠ Parole
• God delights in showing forgiveness and mercy
• Because God delights in us we should delight in Him
• When we understand God’s grace and mercy it transforms us
• Are you thankful the Lord delights in you?
Jesus makes the invisible God visible (Colossians 1:15)
• Jesus made the invisible God visible
• He makes God approachable (John 1:1)
• He makes God understandable (Hebrews 4:15)
• He makes God relatable (John 15:7)
• We should proclaim Jesus (1 Colossians 1:28)
• When you are grateful you want to tell other people about Jesus
• Look at the cross, not the size of your home, bank account, or job
