There were women who were prominent within the GamerGate consumer revolt too. We had #NotYourShield, who produced a long montage video of non-white, non-male gamers voicing support, there were two pro-GG women who went on a Huffington Post live interview...
But what is the narrative that you hear, even now, from almost every journalist when they write about GamerGate?
Almost unerringly, they declare it was a harassment campaign by misogynist white men trying to drive women and non-white people out of the gaming industry.
Not Your Shield (and Airport's Not Your Bullet) were inconvenient truths that they chose to ignore. And since journalists are the gatekeepers from which most people get their news (even now) it was all too easy for activists posing as journalists to omit that fact.
Combined with anti-GamerGate having total ownership over the Wikipedia article thanks to cronies like Ryulong, they ensured any attempt to challenge the narrative would have a steep uphill battle to say the least.
They're going to use the same tactics to defend Collective Shout because they worked against GamerGate. Savvy, HaileyEira, all the other women speaking out will be simply ignored as if they don't exist, so the Woke and radical feminists can continue clucking their tongues about those evil misogynistic gamers.
