NtypeJP Development Announcement ［Background］ Currently, the Japanese font included in the beta version of Nothing OS 3.0 has raised visual concerns, becoming a source of dissatisfaction for Japanese users. Although several alternative fonts have been considered, we believe it is necessary to develop a new Japanese font, "NType JP," that harmonizes with the original "NType82" font to uphold Nothing's brand identity. With this in mind, a NdotJP team has resumed activities to address this issue. ［Goal］ To propose a new Japanese font that can replace the one currently used as a substitute for NType in settings apps and other areas of Nothing OS 3.0. ［Desired Design Features］ 　・What makes NType's design distinctive? 　　- Pronounced serifs 　　- Slightly thicker horizontal strokes 　　- Ink trap-like details in certain areas 　・What is the ideal design for the Japanese font? 　　- Based on a Mincho-style typeface 　　- Slightly thicker horizontal strokes for better readability 　　- Softer contours ［To-Do List］ ☑ Select a base font (changed from the initially considered BIZ UD Mincho to Noto Serif and Zen Old Mincho due to the variety of weights available). 　　- Process the font using Python. 　　- Organize metadata. 　　- Create original kana characters (TBD). 　　- Publish and propose the font. 【NtypeJP 開発発表】 ［経緯］ 現在、Nothing OS 3.0のβ版に組み込まれている日本語フォントには視覚的に問題があるのではないかとして、日本人ユーザーにとっての不満の原因となっています。代替のフォントもいくつか検討しましたが、Nothingのブランドアイデンティティを支えるにはオリジナルフォント「NType82」に調和する日本語フォント「NType JP」の開発が必要ではないかと考え、NdotJPを製作した有志チームで再び活動しています。 ［目標］ 現在のNothing OS 3.0の設定アプリ等でNTypeの代わりに使われている日本語フォントを置き換えられる別の日本語フォントを提案すること。 ［実現したいデザインについて］ 　・NTypeのデザインはどのように特徴的か？ 　　- 飾り（セリフ）部分がしっかりしている 　　- 横画がやや太め 　　- 一部の部分に墨溜まり処理のようなものがある 　・日本語フォントではどのようになるのが理想か 　　- ベースは明朝体 　　- 見やすさのためにも横画をやや太めに 　　- 輪郭を柔らかくする処理 ［ToDo］ ☑ ベースのフォントの選定（ウエイトの豊富さから当初想定していたBIZ UD明朝ベースからNoto Serifベース、Zenオールド明朝ベースに変更） 　　- Pythonによるフォントの処理 　　- メタデータの整備 　　- 仮名部分の製作（？） 　　- フォントの公開・提案 Nothing 日本語フォントプロジェクトより
