Olympic bronze medalist Jordan Chiles just lost her medal in gymnastics. And now people are crying “racism,” including her sister Jazmin. She stood alongside Simone Biles and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade for the first ever all-black podium—but the ruling was clearly nonsensical and biased against Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, who didn’t win because the judges decided that an all-black podium would send a strong message of diversity for the gymnastics, which has been long dominated by whites. Team USA lodged a last minute on-floor appeal during the competition that vaulted Chiles to the top above the white competitor. The judges added 0.1 to her score, which was enough to put her in third place. But a further review by the IOC found that they added the score a minute after window was up. It was literally a last minute decision so they could have an all-black podium finish.
