With the unanimous passing of Private Member’s Bill 22, the first full week of October each year has officially been proclaimed #OUAWeek. The inaugural OUA Week will be celebrated from October 3 to October 11, 2026, as the #OUA and its Member schools celebrate the long and impactful legacy of varsity sport across the province - one that has created unforgettable moments, helped shape leaders on and off the field, and made an impact well beyond the sidelines. The theme for the inaugural OUA Week will be Our Legacy. Our Moment. Our Rise. #ONTheRise 📸 Aru Das

Thank you to MPP @BrianSaunderson for championing the important contributions of student-athletes across Ontario and for proposing an opportunity like #OUAWeek to recognize the athletic excellence, academic achievement, and unwavering commitment witnessed across the #OUA.

I’m pleased to share that my Private Member’s Bill to proclaim the first full week of October each year as Ontario University Athletics Week has passed second reading unanimously and is now headed to the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Affairs for review. If passed, Ontario will become the first jurisdiction in Canada to officially recognize and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our university athletes each year. A heartfelt thank you to Gord Grace and the entire team at @OUAsport (OUA) for their ongoing support and contributions to this initiative. #OUAWeek #OntarioAthletes #UniversitySports #SimcoeGrey #StudentAthletes #OntarioUniversities
