Ofgem increased the Energy Cap 10% to £1,717 because the wholesale gas prices have increased. But they are the same as in June 2021 when the cap was £1,138. But they do need that extra £579 to maintain their new 10x profits.

Ofgem sets electricity price by the cost of burning gas. Yet 70% of power comes from Wind/Hydro/Nuclear and Solar which cost 1/10th as much to produce. It’s a £15bn a year con and Ofgem force it on you.
