This past week, #OPPSAVE Officers spent the evening and nighttime hours patrolling #OFSC trails in Nottawasaga and Dufferin. Checks included sobriety, trail passes, insurance, registration, licence/val tags, and securely fastened chin straps.
Cold weather doesn’t slow safety efforts. Officers remain out on the trails even in ❄️ ‑20°C conditions to help ensure everyone gets home safely!

The #ManitoulinOPP urges everyone to be respectful of the #OFSC (Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs) trails. On January 26, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a pickup truck drove onto a closed OFSC trail near Otter Lake Road in #Mindemoya, causing significant damage. The driver abandoned the vehicle after being unable to free it.
The OPP takes these incidents seriously, as OFSC volunteers work hard to prepare and maintain the trails for snowmobilers to enjoy. If you have any information about the driver or the truck involved in this incident, please contact 1-888-310-1122.
We want to remind the public that the snowmobile trails on Manitoulin Island are currently closed, and using an OFSC trail before it is open is considered trespassing. Additionally, OFSC trails are for the exclusive use of snowmobiles with a valid trail pass. They are not roadways or trail systems for the use of vehicles or ATVs.
