This morning, the #ONChamberNetwork had the privilege of hearing from the @OntarioCofC's President and CEO, @DanTisch, as he discussed the upcoming release of our new 2025-2028 strategic plan! 🙌This was an exciting opportunity for the network to have a first-hand look at the roadmap that will guide us through an exciting new chapter of growth and transformation. 👏🌠
After months of collaboration and consultation with more than 80+ Chambers and Boards of Trade, we can’t wait to unveil our bold vision for many years to come, one that focuses on unlocking new opportunities for our network, partners, clients, and staff.
Amidst the U.S. presidential inauguration, tariff threats, and the looming provincial and federal elections across Canada, the role of chambers of commerce and boards of trade has never been more vital. Together, we provide the insights, resources, and advocacy needed to navigate this complex and changing environment. As Daniel highlighted: “It’s at times like these when the value of Ontario business standing together is greatest—both to learn from one another, and to strengthen our collective voice. That’s why your engagement in the Chamber is so vital.”
The group also discussed the OCC’s upcoming Economic Report Launch Event, in addition to ongoing and future activations to support a thriving business community across the province!
Thank you to @VIA_Rail and @Amtrak for joining our #ONChamberNetwork town hall this morning to discuss restoring the passenger rail service between Detroit and Windsor.
We had the pleasure of hearing from Robert Eaton, Senior Director, Government Affairs-National State and Local Legislative Relations at Amtrak, Luke Polcyn, Senior Executive for Development & Economic Transformation (Mayor's Office) at the @CityofDetroit, Eve-Danièle Veilleux, Conseillère en chef, relations gouvernementales, VIA Rail Canada and Vito Grammatico, MBA, Senior Economic Development Officer at the @CityWindsorON.
Some of the key highlights of the discussion included:
✅ Addressing the lack of rail service that connects Chicago – Detroit – Toronto and limited transportation alternatives between Michigan and Ontario
✅ Bridging the gap between two existing rail passenger corridors
✅ Leveraging existing Amtrak and VIA Rail resources
✅ Promoting commerce and sustainable economic development
✅ Restoring train service at Michigan Central Station
The @MIChamber is a great partner of the OCC, and we very much look forward to collaboration opportunities between all parties as we connect consumers and businesses between Canada and the U.S.
The group also discussed the upcoming launch of our Ontario Economic Report survey, our Advocacy Day in February, and the recent announcement that the Ontario Chamber of Commerce was selected to host the 2027 World Chamber Congress (WCC) in Toronto!

Today, the #ONChamberNetwork met for a special edition of our town hall series! Thank you to Desjardins' Florence Jean-Jacobs, Principal Economist for delivering an informative presentation on ‘How can SMEs prepare for shifting trade winds?’
Florence shared how the upcoming U.S. election might affect Ontario's #SMEs, and the risks and opportunities for small and medium sized enterprises that export. She also shared a forecast from Desjardins' Economic Studies team, complemented by an open discussion centred around on-the-ground perspectives from our Network members about business conditions in their local communities.
