E5, E10, E20 .. flex fuel debates will go on .. OEMs will push, pull, and pivot .. Meanwhile, #EVs stay clear of #AdulteratedFuel, blending uncertainty, and tailpipe #emissions.

There has been considerable discussion about E20 fuel and its impact.
I have some questions for @volklub @munish111188
1. This roadmap of fuel blending has been known since 2020. If it was not right or had challenges, OEMs should have lobbied? Let's take Maruti, the country's largest OEM, which engages in lobbying for various purposes - 6 airbags should not be mandatory, and much more.
2. In Jan 2023, Maruti's CEO & MD was questioning the government's capability to provide flex fuel as they were ready with the WagonR flex fuel
Evidence - https://t.co/653RT29MYC
His statement from the article above, "Maruti CEO & MD Takeuchi welcoming the government's policy-making said that ‘It is good to know that the government is taking concrete steps in this direction. Such steps will encourage us to start commercial production from 2025 or earliest as and when infrastructure is made available.’"
If they were not aligned with govt's vision, why did they support it? Did they not know that it would impact their older cars?
3. In Aug 2023, did Toyota, as OEM, not support the government's vision for flex fuel cars? They showcased "World's First BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle". The headlines said "Toyota Kirloskar Motor Unveils Prototype of the World's First BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle, contributing towards realising national goals"
Evidence - https://t.co/olSpijQu29
Toyota India's official article (read it whole, it sings praises of the government's vision) mentioned above, contains the following statement - "India is well endowed with renewable energy, surplus sugar, food grains, and biomass which offers huge possibilities for a transition to a cleaner energy future, which is also indigenous. The abundantly available sugarcane, excess food grains, along with huge biomass waste can be used to produce ethanol that can substitute a significant amount of petrol used by vehicles in the shortest possible time.
Notably, in the recent past, the Ethanol mix (in petrol) in India has gone up from 1.53% in 2013-14 to 11.5% in March 2023, which has helped reduce the oil import bill by Rs. 41,500 crores in the last eight years. Further, in 2020-21, ethanol blending enabled a reduction of 26 million barrels of petrol, thereby resulting in savings of Rs. 10,000 crores. With the impending implementation of E20 (20% ethanol blending in petrol) by April 2025, India is expected to save Rs. 35,000 crores annually in its oil import bill and reduce GHG Emission by 21 million metric tonnes. E20 fuel will also reduce PM2.5 emissions by up to 14% as compared to petrol."
If they were not aligned with the government's vision, why did they support it? Did they not know that it would impact their older cars or even their current cars?
3. Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai never promoted flex fuel. No articles covering flex fuel except for the 2025 expo. Tata and Mahindra were, anyway, concentrated on EV tech implementation.
P.S. - No way I am defending the government here; what I am trying to show is that 2 OEMs worked hand in hand with the government and supported the government in this initiative.
Expecting a weighted answer from an expert like you.
