When I look at the AZ Coyotes they had a mascot named Howler. I've become a fan of the yotes for the mascot and met the dude at the all star fest in Nashville. Now, with the Yotes gone, I'm broke. I really hope Howler and Yotes will rise from ashes in the future. ❤️ #OneYearGone

"I was a 15 yr old AZ Native that knew little to nothing about hockey when the Coyotes arrived in town. I decided that I was going all in on this team. They had been literally a piece of me every single day during those years. I was a rabid fan and a true homer. As an AZ native, I took a lot of pride on this being 'our team'.. It literally broke my heart and to have zero control over something that has been a huge piece of my life, has been devastating. I'm trying very hard to be a Utah fan, but it's 100% not the same and I feel some resentment to their owner and fans for taking from me. I'm very much aware of all the turbulent years and why they were moved, but it's still infuriating. Raised my daughter on this team. Feel lucky she got to watch half of Doan's years and got the special opportunity to see Josh wear our sweater. Only word to describe how I'm feeling a year later, is Devastated."

Since they've left I've felt hollow. They were my world man... I made plans around watching/going to games when I could. I wore a jersey every time I had to teach while they played. I would teach physics labs with the game on in the front so I wouldn't miss a (expletive) minute. Now they're just gone. It was just like a part of my life stopped existing..."

A year ago today the @ArizonaCoyotes played their last game.
No Championship will ever bring me as much joy as the day the Yotes 2.0 hoist the Stanley Cup.

"I have never been one who has been all that great at words. But the Coyotes’ absence has been…hard, to say the least. Not only on me, a fan who stuck through thick and thin, but to the community around. They might not have been the most popular when it comes to the big four in Arizona, but there was an almost immediate response from the other teams in the Valley, and fans alike. It was also a heartbreaking to see voters chose to keep a dump over a word class entertainment district, but it also opened my eyes to just how little our ownership truly cared about keeping us there. The move itself still stings and I feel it always will, even when we have another team back in the valley. But it was also a wake up call, as a fan I could sit there all day and say “we're not going anywhere!” Then it happens. There is a part of me and I feel a part of everyone who saw it as avoidable, but also a voice inside saying, maybe it was the right thing to an extent, we could have a new arena right now, in Fiesta or The Boardwalk, but we would still be stuck with the Muerelos. Toxic ownership is what got us here, and flushing them out is what we needed."

I tried to watch the first Utah game, but it was just 'watching a whole team of guys who used to play for us.' I haven't watched a hockey game this season. My kids have.
