Machaba has condemned the municipality’s stance, saying it appears unjust and could negatively affect both the livelihoods of taxi operators and the communities that rely on their services. He has called on the municipality to reconsider its decision and engage in a constructive dialogue with the taxi association and other stakeholders. IMS

The Economic Freedom Fighters in the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality has raised concern over the municipality’s alleged refusal to issue #operatingpermits to members of the Mashadi Taxi Association. According to EFF Sub-Regional Interim Leadership Core Coordinator, Gift Machaba, the municipality is insisting that the taxi association merge with another association to qualify for permits, a move he describes as an overreach of municipal authority.
