"There is something really satisfying about watching a classic film noir like this receive this kind of treatment. It doesn’t need to be reinvented, it just needs to be presented properly."

Remembering the smoldering Jane Greer on her birthday. Unforgettable as femme fatale Kathie Moffat in one of the best Film Noir ever made, Out of the Past (1947) by Jacques Tourneur, the film that cemented her iconic status.

Everything you want in a film noir you’ll find in Out of the Past. A tenacious detective (Robert Mitchum) spinning his wheels to make good. A drop-dead beauty (Jane Greer) up to no good. A moneyed mobster (Kirk Douglas) with a shark’s grin. Plus double-crosses and fall guys. Shadowy rooms and bleak souls. Mitchum solidified his tough-guy persona in this archetypal film noir directed with memorable style by the masterful Jacques Tourneur. He plays Jeff Bailey, a one-time private investigator walking the straight and narrow of small-town life…until an acquaintance from his past pulls him back into the troubles he’d left behind. “Build my gallows high, baby”, Bailey sneers as events stack up behind him. With dialogue like that and much more, Out of the Past builds its reputation high. Now, meticulously restored and remastered from its original camera negative as a 4K UHD HDR Blu-ray presentation with Dolby Vision®, this seminal noir looks better than ever imagined.

Best thing in this is Young Dickie Moore... He says Virtually NOTHING, yet Everything comes across from/through him, AND the Entire Storyline..& how it "Affected" his "Silent Life ....

Have seen #OutOfThePast recently so mainly staying with World Cup though I might check in. #TCMParty
Robert Mitchum was here: We’ve been told by locals that after he trashed his motel room (believed to be a cabin on the grounds of the Silver Maple) the CHP threw him in the “old” town jail to cool off.

The approach to #Bridgeport at the opening of OUT OF THE PAST (1947) - there are a lot more trees now blocking the view of the courthouse! (The big white building.)

Did you know…there’s a blooper in OUT OF THE PAST? Take a look at the sign in the righthand screen shot. Someone forgot to change out the real-life Ann’s Grill sign for the movie’s Marny’s Cafe sign in this shot!
#Highway395 #Bridgeport #OutOfThePast
From OUT OF THE PAST (1947) - Marny’s Cafe in the film was Ann’s Grill in reality. The building has been Ken’s Sporting Goods for decades. The window is still 2-paned just like in the movie! #Bridgeport #Highway395
I could SWEAR Whomever Designed the #TheGodfather Sets & Locations did a subtle nod to this Office in #OutOfThePast in Tahoe..😎😉......js..
