Today, we were reminded once again of the incredible strength of our Pennsylvania National Guard community. This holiday season, our Soldier & Family Readiness team has been working closely with a Soldier and their family who were facing significant financial challenges—most urgently, the need for a reliable vehicle to keep their household moving forward. SGT Christopher Lizotte, currently serves with the PA Army National Guard. He’s been in the service for 8 years and recently came home from a deployment to the Horn of Africa. This afternoon, we learned that help was already on the way. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of the Pennsylvania Masons, including Muncy Lodge No 299 F&AM, Richard Vaux Brotherhood Lodge No.126, Jerusalem Lodge No. 508, and the The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, F & AM, this family will receive a donated van, car seats, and essential items such as diapers and groceries. Additional thanks to the American Legion Post 834, Veterans Brotherhood, Lycoming County Helping Our Warriors, and Cribs for Kids® National Infant Safe Sleep Initiative, who are providing the convertible car seats so the family will never have to worry about replacing them as their children grow. This is what it means to take care of our own. When a Soldier, Airmen or family is in need, this community answers the call without hesitation. To every organization and individual who played a part in making this possible: thank you for demonstrating compassion, service, and the true meaning of the holiday season.
