@MrsInnerb Yes, I was thinking of some great read-aloud books that would lend themselves great to this! I also think using picture books and not just chapter books for these read-alouds are powerful...even for older grades! (Ties into mentor sentence texts too!) #PCPSchatDT2

A2: After reading this I think it's important! Being in an SOL testing year it's easy to get sucked into "reading to find evidence" mode. On purpose I would make my read alouds funny books, so my students would still enjoy books. However, I never had this mindset. #pcpschatdt2

@michvoorhees It’s so hard to get students to reflect on their reading and consider how it effects them. I really liked how you be teacher Eileen ours used the signposts. She had the students first consider the signposts for the text and then for the reader #PCPSChatDT2

A3: recently I have required students to make predictions and ask questions before reading, then after reading a portion of a text I have stopped them, they have had to revise the predictions and look for answers to their questions #PCPSChatDT2

A1:I love the BHH framework, because I think it will help Ss THINK more. They aren't just reading to answer a question; they are thinking about what is in the text, what they think about it, and how it affects them. And kids will connect with the simple BHH format. #pcpschatdt2

A3: As a librarian, I don’t teach & assess the same as classroom teachers. I read aloud to students daily, all grade levels, PreK-5th. Discussion is what we do. But in the library SS could also discuss with each other or they can sketch an aha part.@English_Tchr101 #PCPSChatDT2

A2: It is important for students to be aware of how a text changes them. This shows the student making a personal connection & digging deeper.We/I discuss text as a group, which helps us hear ideas of others. We can grow from the text & each other. @English_Tchr101 #pcpschatdt2
