#ECMO weaning easier on VV #ECLS turn off gas flow in 5' ML completely desaturated = venous blood in/out; VA decrease BF monitor if lack of drainage impairs RV function & if LV provide enough circulation (no coherence between micro/macrocirculation -> echo @ECMOphile #BEACH2019

This may lead to sudden changes in retrograde flow & an incorrect patient assessment of readiness for decannulation. Practitioners attempting to implement #PCRTO should be aware of any automatic retrograde flow prevention software that is currently commonplace in #ECLS devices/3

Pump controlled retrograde trial off (PCRTO) using the Cardiohelp console safety considerations. During #PCRTO, the pump speed is reduced to the point where the patient can eject into the arterial cannula, effectively reversing the veno-arterial flow into an arteriovenous shunt/1
