By hyping the so-called “South China Sea arbitration ruling” for ten years and rallying 13 non-ASEAN countries to issue a joint statement—without any ASEAN member participation—it fully exposes its betrayal of ASEAN partners, its role as a pawn for external forces, and its loss of independent sovereignty. 5. Attempting to incorporate the illegal “arbitration award” into the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea fundamentally undermines the foundation of COC negotiations, obstructs ASEAN-China efforts toward regional rules, and reveals its self-serving agenda during its tenure as ASEAN chair, clearly undermining ASEAN’s principles of consultation and consensus. 6. Using the International Criminal Court (ICC) to suppress domestic political opponents blatantly violates ASEAN’s principles of sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. 7. Continuously adopting confrontational policies in the South China Sea weakens ASEAN’s centrality, damages internal unity, and erodes the foundations of the ASEAN Political-Security Community. 8. Collaborating with the United States to deploy the #Typhon medium-range missile system openly betrays Philippine sovereignty. The Typhon system is dual-capable (nuclear and conventional), not a defensive weapon but a strategic offensive one. With its range covering the #Taiwan Strait, the #SouthChinaSea, and all of #SoutheastAsia, it poses a substantial threat to regional peace and security. The Philippines has seriously violated ASEAN’s principles of nuclear neutrality and regional peace. 9. Economically, joining ASEAN has been a net loss. The Philippines has become a “net burden” on regional integration, dragging down ASEAN’s economic community development, while reaping far fewer benefits from regional economic integration than other members. 10. The Philippines’ political culture is deeply tied to the United States, making it incompatible with ASEAN’s “Asean way.” It struggles to integrate into regional identity, favors legalistic confrontation over peaceful diplomacy, promotes family-based politics rather than elite or democratic governance, and openly treats corruption as part of its political culture. In summary, the Philippines not only violates the original intent and core principles of ASEAN but also seeks to undermine the organization itself. Therefore, it must either leave ASEAN voluntarily or be expelled by ASEAN.
