We hope this is the start of more developments with IPS quarterly censuses. #PIPS2021 called for: ▪️ Additional data in the existing censuses ▪️ New census of drug + alcohol treatment ▪️ New census of visits + contact ▪️ New census of out-of-cell time https://t.co/airuUKMVEs

How we care for people with mental illness in the criminal justice system is a key standard we assessed in #PIPS2021 🧑‍⚕️ Overall, we found 'no change' in this standard since 2016. Here's a more detailed review against the standard indicators 👇 https://t.co/airuUKMVEs (pp.32-37)

Here's an overview of IPRT's assessment of progress in the penal system between 2017 and 2021, across the 13 standards we reviewed in #PIPS2021 👇 Worryingly, there has been regress in some key areas of practice. See pp.20-21 of #PIPS2021: https://t.co/airuUKNtu0

Our PIPS2021 report would not be possible without our PIPS advisory group, generous funding facilitated by @CommunityFound and others, our board of directors, and many others. Thank you to everyone involved, and everyone who attended the launch event this morning. #PIPS2021

Excellent #PIPS2021 report by @IPRT. 'Video calls should be seen as additional means to strengthen family contact...scrutinise the necessity and proportionality of blanket restrictions on in-person visits between children and their parents in prison through a human rights lens.'
