To be fair, I came onto this platform after I was already being cancelled. I came here to talk about what was happening because it was during lockdowns and we were completely isolated, I had no idea what “cancel culture” was or how to articulate my experiences. Since then I have found my voice, along with 70k + people who support me or at least want to see what I’m saying and enjoy my art. Thank you! I feel like that means when given a chance to hear from people like me, a majority of people can really see what’s going on here. More people than we know of go through the sort of cancellation attempts me and my fella have been experiencing and sadly, for so many of them it’s too difficult to find their voice in the aftermath. That’s why I’ve been lucky to find my voice in this and I’m glad I came to X to do it, especially since Elon took over and gave us permission to speak freely in public. I’ve noticed it’s only ever the religiously dedicated lone weirdos and the fetishists with anime profile pics who make wild claims to try to justify the dark side of the story I’m telling. They so desperately want it to be true that it’s okay to threaten to rape or kill women, and ruin people’s lives simply because we don’t believe in their sad, mad online religion. The funniest thing about comments like this is that I’ve heard it all from the start. As soon as I was being cancelled - Musicians were contacting my fella to tell him to make me stop saying things online such as “Humans cannot change sex” - and they really did expect my fella to make me stop. How exactly? I’m not sure, but every variation of “keep your woman under control” has been said to him. Obviously he has refused, and still faces the “consequences” for his refusal to control me to this day. He’s a good man. As for myself, I’ve been told by at least one very famous male musician “If you just stop posting what you’re posting, then no one will do anything to you and Doozer’s career won’t be affected, it’s really that simple”. Needless to say, I didn’t stop. Why should I? These sorts of threats don’t work on me. I’ve heard “Say/Do as you’re told and you won’t get battered” for more of my life than I should have, what I learned from an early age is that the people saying those things will give ya the battering anyway so you might as well say what you want. So, these sorts of comments don’t even surprise me. I just cringe because I think it’s pathetic to be an adult that thinks this way.
