@cleenfoundation The Police Service is the constitutional body saddled with appointment, promotion and discipline of police officers in Nigeria. The percentage of citizens who know this is very low. How can the PSC help in this circumstance, even if it is moribund. #PSSCOVID19

CSOs and oversight bodies are hopefully using well thought out templates and checklist in identifying critical gaps, identification of erring officers etc for specific disciplinary measures #PSSCOVID19

Gap now is for CSOs to effectively engage oversight bodies with the powers to discipline erring officers like the Police Service Commission with reports and follow up on how the issues are resolved. #PSSCOVID19
@cleenfoundation @bbiodun @woleojewale Of course we must recognize the efforts of gallant and informed officers at these times. We must support them. There will always b challenges, how we manage them is the issue. CSOs need to identify good officers and celebrate them. #PSSCOVID19

When Human Rights Defenders have access to victims and take up their cases, it will go a long way in reducing violations. HR Defenders are providing essential services #PSSCOVID19

@cleenfoundation @bbiodun @woleojewale Cooperation by oversight bodies is also key. The police, military and other agencies enforcing lockdown have different oversight bodies. Presently no meeting exists between these oversight bodies towards a unified form of reaction in times of abuse. #PSSCOVID19
