A few decades ago, my parents pooled their resources and sent me back to the UK to pursue my undergraduate degree. The sacrifice was never lost on me. It was a leap of faith not just financially, but emotionally. And yet, despite the magnitude of that commitment, they still found a way to take us on a road trip to Cape Town to celebrate and to send me off properly with joy, with intention, with love. From that moment on, Cape Town became my favourite place because for me it holds memory, transition, and possibility. Fast forward 25 years. I am back in Cape Town this time commissioned to curate and facilitate a conversation on building a Diasporic Public Tech Ecosystem. To sit in a room filled with fellow children of the African diaspora, leading conversations on imagining new systems, new architectures, and new futures it is nothing short of a full-circle moment. What once began as a send-off into the world has returned as a call to help shape it. I am eternally grateful 🙏 #Homecoming #Diaspora #PublicTechInterest
