@laughingatchaos @Kate_Arms Getting people to listen for the sake of listening, or "listen to understand", can be quite difficult. Most often we are taught "listen to respond". And even when people TRY to listen and NOT respond, it's amazing how often responses come out anyway. It's tough. #ParentHelpChat

A3) Partnering with the kids can be difficult for much of the same reasons! You wonβt always see eye to eye, and what they want may push your own boundaries. Negotiating that from a position of partnership, instead of βbecause I said soβ, can be very difficult. #ParentHelpChat
@Kate_Arms Demonstrate. Kids are sponges, no matter the age, and they see and notice E-VER-Y-THING we do as their parents. The best thing you can do is demonstrate how to relate to people, be that the other parent, family members, or themselves directly. #ParentHelpChat
A2) Itβs also in how you relate to the kids. By partnering with them, you are giving them agency & empowering them in some of the decisions. This helps raise resilient kids as well as teach them fundamental problem-solving and collaboration skills. #ParentHelpChat
@christianewells Yes, when I first saw this theme, I thought of "partner" as other-parent, and immediately thought of "partner" as "with the kid" too. I think it's important to talk about both, as we're talking about how we "parent as partner". #ParentHelpChat
