In my mapping research many survivors of #domesticabuse living in rural areas told me they had to travel far to access vital services.
For survivors like Rhianon, living rurally can create additional barriers to safety & support. #PatchworkofProvision

My mapping research found significant gaps in provision for specialist 'by and for' services.
£8.3m funding is progress - I look forward to working with government on the Victims & Prisoners Bill to mend the #PatchworkofProvision further.

The #VictimsBill provides an opportunity to fill these gaps. No matter who you are or where you live you should be able to access the services you need.
We need a coordinated response + long term sustainable funding so we can end the #PatchworkOfProvision for all survivors

Today I gave evidence @Commonswomequ about my top 3 priorities to tackle so-called Honor Based Abuse which is a complex form #DomesticAbuse.
First steps are understanding, data + much better funding for 'by + for' services to tackle the #patchworkofprovision faced by victims
In the @CommissionerDA's recently published mapping data on service provisions for #DomesticAbuse victims across England + Wales, it was found that 78% of Black and minoritised survivors felt safer with a 'by ad for' service. #PatchworkofProvision https://t.co/yHbBO1gNUs

Mapping by @Commissioner shows: "Grave lack" of specialised ‘by and for’ provision.
Minoritised groups face increased disadvantage when trying to get help & these services are 6x less likely to get statutory funding.
Let's mend the #PatchworkofProvision https://t.co/IjG0J4V8nl

The works draws on the experience of thousands of victims & survivors and clearly shows the value and support for specialist, and specialist by & for services

#PatchworkofProvision
.@CommissionerDA's latest report reveals patchy provision for victims of domestic abuse.
In our statement, @JoTodd4 focuses on the shortage of perpetrator programmes despite high demand from victims, & the barriers male victims face RE accessing support.
