Held a Return to Work progress review meeting with @kmpdu SG @Davji and Young Doctors with Dr Chelsea Odera representing the interns. We acknowledged progress made including payment of 110M fee arrears for registrars.
On the issue of medical interns, we agreed on the need to post the interns immediately. A follow-up meeting will be held on Thursday 4th July after the ministry consults with Treasury on funding for the programme.

We convened today to discuss the status of the doctors' illegal industrial strike which is on its 50th day; of great concern is the continued and deliberate refusal by postgraduate doctors(registrars) to resume duty.
Their continued participation in the illegal strike despite the availing of Kshs. 200M by Government to cover all fee arrears has had a negative knock-on effect on the citizenry including undergraduate medical students who cannot proceed with their practicals.
It was thus resolved that the Universities and the Ministry of Health should quickly develop lasting solutions on this matter.
Present in the meeting were Cabinet Secretaries Susan Nakhumicha (Health) and Ezekiel Machogu (Education), PSs Harry Kimtai, Dr.Beatrice Inyangala, VCs and all CEOs of level six hospitals.
No one is ready for this discussion. This is beyond modern slavery. @Nakhumicha_S @WilliamsRuto this is the just a part of our residents training. They actually run and manage the hospitals.
