I want this country to become far more wealthy as we deliver on our commitments to climate change and improved environmental outcomes. Our immediate priority is to set the foundations for growth, lower emissions and better environmental outcomes by removing unnecessary barriers to investment. But we will take a different approach to the previous Government. While we share their concerns on climate change and a desire to improve the environment, the means by which we will achieve those goals will be different. Our reforms will target rules that either do not help the environment or actually harm it by preventing investments in green technology. The Coalition Government will not only unleash growth in our towns and cities, but also deliver better outcomes for the environment with rules that are fit for purpose. This is the message I delivered at Waitangi today at National's annual Bluegreens Forum.
