“This should be happening inside the library!” Alongside today’s #CareNotCuts rally, the #PeoplesLibrary set up outside the Brooklyn Public Library, which due to budget cuts is closed today. The People’s Library offered free books, button & zine making, and face painting.

We started organizing two weeks before the closures. Miraculously, we got it cobbled together in time. The #PeoplesLibrary had books. Internet stations. Puppet shows & story time for the kids. Everything a “regular” library had. #Community #Seattle https://t.co/unEiEllsEZ

On this day 7 years ago, the @SeattleLibrary system shut down for a week long furlough "due to budget cuts". A bunch of us got together and provided what the city could not. So began one of the most meaningful weeks of my life. #PeoplesLibrary #Seattle https://t.co/V2n1Ymfcp1
