Talking to my American compatriots yesterday and we've all observed that it doesn't feel like Christmas at all. The joy and happiness that usually comes with this time of year has been replaced by a weird sense of something very bad on its way.
In Canada it's like we've been in a pressure cooker for 8 years, with the intensity hitting an unbearable temperature in 2020 and now on its way to peaking in 2024. We're all bracing for when the bubble pops and our lives collapse in front of us.
Postmodern neomarxists are miserable nihilists by nature, and this neoliberal ideology has spread to everything around us. There isn't much happiness to be found here anymore. We're all trying our best to appreciate what we have but it's hard to do that when what little we have left is slowly being taken from us every day.
I respect the efforts of Conservatives to try and right our ship but my faith in their capabilities is dwindling. If @PierrePoilievre was less interested in playing politics and more interested in saving his country, maybe I'd be a little more enthusiastic about his rise in popularity. But we don't need documentaries on the housing crisis and catchy slogans- we're well aware of what's happening since it's happening TO US. We need action NOW- no matter how ugly that action might be.
Justin Trudeau's Christmas holiday is ruined. Great. So is ours. Most of us are in a constant state of panic because we have to wonder how much it's going to cost every time we light up our Christmas tree or turn on the heat in our homes. Regardless of how long Conservatives make the Liberals and NDP sit in parliament arguing policy amendments, they're still going to wake up on Christmas morning without any worry for the future. Meanwhile, Canadians have been put on our heels, living moment to moment, praying it doesn't get any worse because we've reached the threshold of what we can handle.
Pierre, if you're really who you say you are, then get fucking busy. Stop being a politician and be a Canadian citizen. We're struggling here and we're losing faith in our system. With every day that passes, more of us are beginning to believe we're the only ones who can save this country- not you, or any political group. This charade of politics and populism is wearing thin.
Merry fucking Christmas.
