The day was established by the #JapanPersonalColoristAssociation, a general incorporated association based in #JingumaeShibuyaTokyo. It conducts research on color and trains specialists. The date comes from a wordplay: "hi (10), i (1), ro (6)," which reads as "hitoiro," or "people's colors." In 2015 (Heisei 27), it was certified and registered by the #JapanAnniversaryAssociation, a general incorporated association. "Jibun-iro," or one's own color, means the color that suits a person best, in harmony with the hair, eyes and skin tone they were born with. It is what is commonly called #PersonalColor. The aim of the day is to propose ways to put it to use, drawing out individuality and charm. Knowing the colors that suit you is like getting a map for choosing clothes by your own compass, rather than being swept along by trends. A person who can propose ways to bring out someone's charm to the fullest is called a "#PersonalColorist." The Japan Personal Colorist Association offers qualification exams such as the "#PersonalColoristCertification," which teach color knowledge and color coordination. What you learn is not limited to choosing clothes. It can be applied to table decorations and interiors, enriching everyday life. Why not pick one item from your closet today in a color you feel suits you? Holding a color near your face and checking in the mirror how your skin looks is a pleasant experiment, too. At the table, adding a red or green vegetable to your usual plate can transform the whole impression. Color has the power to move feelings.
