@mandiwoodruff Understandable. 529 is a part of the mix here especially because Maryland offers a match of up to $500 on contributions to a college investment plan. Families in the lowest income bracket can deposit $25 and get $500 from the state. #Pgtalksmoney

A10 I LOVE this topic. We start kids with allowance at 5, with $5. $1 each to Save, Spend, and Share and the other $2 they can decide what to do with. It's not tied to chores or anything, we view it as a teaching tool for kids. 1/2 #PgTalksMoney

A5. it's so easy to get caught up in buying cute clothes and toys for kids. Try to be conscious of that and know they're going to grow fast so resale clothes are a great deal and often barely worn. #PgTalksMoney

In general, don't be afraid to talk about money. There will always be some topics that are age-appropriate and some that aren't, but normalizing the conversation will help them get comfortable thinking about it. #PgTalksMoney

Buying used clothing is the one parenting tip that I continue to fail time and again and I learned to forgive myself. I just love baby clothes too much! 😆😆😆 #PgTalksMoney I do look for used seasonal shoes like snow boots though.

A9: Make sure you're own financial foundation is secure first. That means emergency savings, insurance, estate planning, and retirement savings. It's the whole mask on the airplane thing. Secure yourself before you help your children. #PgTalksMoney
