Did you know, what is a #plasticnumber? Share it with your friends, if you didn't 😇 #mathematics #cubicequation #plasticconstant #platinnumber #numbertheory #cheenta

@GHSMaths Yeah I guessed so, but I'm still discovering stuff with ggb. Now I remember we had a #plasticnumber frenziness last year, probably after a @numberphile vid. with @Gelada I think. I did a.. hum... similar thing: https://t.co/YNy30uXjwY

The seems like heights of #plasticnumber triangles are pretty much unfriendly looking numbers. But they combine to add up to each other in a couple of different ways. If I were to present this as a exploratory project the rule would be to visually find different additive combos.

The #PlasticNumber and the #PadovanSequence are having their day, inspired by @RobFathauerArt! So it's a perfect time to share my 3D Fractal sculpture "Padovan Mountains" https://t.co/HKtynQw9Aj #mathart #mathsculpture #3DPrinting

This is the only way to partition a square into three similar rectangles of different sizes. Their aspect ratio is the square of the #PlasticNumber.

It's widely known that squares scaled by the Golden Mean form a spiral tiling of the plane. Less well known is the analogous equilateral triangle construction, in which triangle scaled by the Plastic Number form a spiral tiling. Spiral curves can be added using arcs of circles.
