I got this photo of what I think is a tan jumping spider earlier. S/he’s a cutie as far as I’m concerned. :) #spider #jumpingspider #Platycryptus

.@JosephTLapp Behold the 1st spider of spring!!! I found this friendly fellow hunting in oak leaf litter today. It's a sunny chilly 31°F here in southeastern #Pennsylvania outside of #Philadelphia. I'm thinking this is a juvenille #Platycryptus undatus tan jumping #spider?

Recluse or not? @RecluseOrNot

This is #NotARecluse spider but a harmless jumping spider in genus #Platycryptus! Note the stripy legs & pattern on the abdomen. Both would be plain brown if it was a recluse! It will also have 8 eyes, with 2 very large.

You know this already, but this is #NotARecluse, but a tan jumping spider, #Platycryptus undatus, in family #Salticidae. A very common (and harmless) species!

.@JosephTLapp my son found this #Platycryptus in his room this morning & wanted to make sure we shared it with you. She can't chew through concrete but we thought she was pretty cool. We took her to the bus stop to meet the other elementary school kids then I released her.

This is #NotARecluse but a harmless jumping spider (#Platycryptus #undatus)! Note the white pattern on the abdomen (would be plain brown if it was a recluse). And if you looked close it would have 8 eyes spread out around its head whereas recluses have only 6 small eyes.

@RecluseOrNot Don’t think it’s a recluse but defer to you. (Long Is., NY).

This is #NotARecluse spider but a harmless jumping spider in the genus #Platycryptus. Note the black & grey markings on the abdomen (would be plain brown if a recluse) & the very large forward facing eyes characteristic of this family
