'Is Finishing Line Press an MLM?' I'm not out to hurt feelings. I truly believe this is important to address as a community. #poetrycommunity #poetry #pobiz #FinishingLinePress #FLP #MLM https://t.co/X50mo9iSDV

I’ve never written so many query letters in my life. I got poems (15 total submissions in submittable) still in the slush or sitting on read since June 2021, y’all. #poetry #pobiz #litmags #poetrycommunity #NationalPoetryMonth

Baseball fans bickering about the HOF voting need to be introduced to ISU/figure skating scoring and/or #pobiz publishing. As Johnny Weir says, "it's never too early to start your political campaign!"

DIORAMA was a semi-finalist for the Elixir Press Poetry Award. An honor to be sure, but I just want someone to say, “How can we not publish this?” #pobiz

Worth pointing out, as we praise the "revolutionary rhetoric" of contemporary poetry, that #PoBiz is completely a ward of the state, surviving on the good graces of those taxpayers who fund the MFA complex.

A "secondary, dominant discourse": this is probably how we should understand the language of contemporary poetry? This language--free verse, the arcane allusion, the book blurb--is the lingua franca of #PoBiz, which is, in turn, a specialized dialect of the managerial elite.

Actually spotted on Twitter today: Blurb for male poet: “His work is so innovative and powerful.” Blurb for female writer: “Her work has so much emotion.” Do better, poetry world. #pobiz #poetry #poetrycommunity #publishing #WritingCommunity

At any rate, the material circumstances of contemporary poetry--#Pobiz, the economies of the little magazine and MFA programs--just don't accommodate rhyme and meter particularly well, again, for better or worse.

This morning I was prompted to revisit these factoids about BIRTHRIGHT's path to publication: 16 subs over 15 months. Some subs were fee-free; I spent a total of $167 on contest/reading fees. Any other #poets willing/able to share similar stats about their books?

Poet Persona versus Poetry Persona There are two aspects of fame in Poetry World, one based on the Poet Persona and one based on the Poetry Persona. #Poetics #Poetry #Poet #Persona #Fame #PoetLaureate #PoBiz #PoetryBusiness #PoetryWorld #Metamodernism #Poetics
