⚡️ “#PoB4 Bishop as Patron 2019”
https://t.co/vYJiXT7Nu2
ROUNDTABLE #PoB4 about to begin.
The figure of the bishop & the episcopal office is more complicated than we can think it is, so we are going to try & bring threads together now.
It will be really hard to live-tweet this effectively so we will just tweet the points!
Wrapped up #PoB4 w/ roundtable discussion of the #BishopAsPatron @PotBConf & then on to ideas for #PoB5. The bishop as a spiritual leader/the spiritual authority of the bishop rose to the top, i.e. what is necessary for a bishop to "be" a bishop across time/space. @EPISCOPUSorg

#PoB4 second speaker & final speaker of the conference (no pressure) is David Runciman (DR), current PhD student @UniCambridge, speaking on Bishops’ patronage of writers in Angevin England.
#PoB4 back after the break with Day 2 Panel 2! (2:2)
John Jenkins (JJ), University of York, on Archbp Thomas Arundel: Politics, Patronage & the creation of a 15thC reliquary @No1Cathedral

Just a reminder that I’m (so happily) attending and helping host #PoB4 organized by the fantastic @PotBConf @MedievalMJJ @ckd390 I’ll be retweeting the live tweets from @PotBConf from @EPISCOPUSorg / @ElonReligion

#PoB4 AS:
But more to it than this? South 6.6m in diameter, north is 6.5m. Tiny difference almost imperceptible by eye.
South = grace of God entering transept & travelling with light to the north (slightly narrower & depicting final judgement) i.e. a subtle ‘narrow door’ ref?
#PoB4 AS:
Rose windows: power of the bishop represented along with the power of the dean. In Lincoln, Grosseteste had a falling out w/his chapter, so these windows are positioned in opposition to each other (south and north)
