Waves of hair in golden brown
Milicent shines with regal crown
Grace and strength in every stride
Mama Miradi, in you we truly pride
Chema chajiuza, baya chajitembeza
Macho yako ya upole yamependeza
Hii luku ni unique na tena imeweza

Most people don't fully comprehend what Sabasaba is all about. Or rather, they don't have the actual details and figures.
Here's a poetic breakdown 👇

In the rise of the chilly morning we wake
We need to change the state for our sake
Churches they build has no anchor just fake
Each one of us, we need to be part of the bake
Is it enough for you to remain asleep?
When the government has turned on us like sheep?

SABA SABA: 35 YEARS OF RESISTANCE & RESILIENCE
Inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall
And the release of Nelson Mandela
Kenyan pro-democracy protests began earnestly
Against political repression
That had gained currency
Thro' legislation that made Kenya a de-facto one party state
Providing fodder for misrule—
That took the shape of media censorship,
Characterized by suppression of dissent,
And marked by detentions without trial.
July 7 ,1990 goes into the annals of history
As the day when Kenyans' resilience & resistance
Found meaning in protests for political reforms
With resolve ,zeal and zest
Kenyans took to the streets
Braving the brutal force by the police
Personified through tear gas, batons & life ammunition
The second liberation came at a high human cost—
Fatalities were recorded,
Scores were injured,
Hundreds were incarcerated.
When things went south with a continuous wave of protests
The strongman set aside his brinkmanship
And Section 2(a) of the constitution was repealed
Ushering in a new era of political pluralism
The journey of democracy is work in progress
Subsequent administrations have made attempts
By eroding the gains that came with the 2nd liberation—
Encouraging inequality,
Governance without accountability,
Injustice in enforced disappearances,
And extra-judicial killings.
The downside doesn't dumpen the Kenyan spirit
But serves as a catalyst for broader reforms —
We have the Constitution 2010,
Vibrant civil societies,
Bold religious groups,
And a vigilant youth movement.
While Saba Saba has become our symbol of resistance
Kenyans hope to make the day an enduring call for justice
By staging marches,vigils and concerts
But until the state stops repression,
Violent demonstrations will continue to rule the streets!

Mothers of soil, rise and speak
Let winds carry our fearless cry
Spirits of rivers, break the chains
Lift freedom’s banner high

They came with books and foreign tongues,
Burned our drums, silenced our songs.
Called our spirits "dark" and wrong,
While chaining minds in praise all long.
Our shrines erased, our names unspoken—
All in God's name, yet spirits broken.

THE DARK SIDE OF RELIGION
Religions are a man-made attempt
In explaining God's concept
They have created fairy tales
On God through human experiences
Documented in their Holy books
A substratum for hinging their beliefs
That border on dogmatic doctrines
But beliefs will always be beliefs
In so far as they aren't facts
Can we then call out adherents?
With no regard for their followers!
For indoctrinating their believers! Brainwashing innocent minds!
Caging whoever they succeed to radicalize—
Tender and old souls!

They're like bright morning sun
Knowing how to live with fun
Akin to stars twinkling at night
Forever like a happy flying kite
Without them life can be boring
Coz they're so cute and adoring
Today we celebrate them all
From daytime till nightfall!

a simple bud,

then dies and
withers,
I too shall die.

Not late nights scrolls,
Not even ruto Shoe-ka drama,
But your letters.
Every line re-reading,
Is like holy book revelation.
It paints a picture of you
through your handwriting
Count down my love,
Before heart to heart
Letters we share.

Easter Sunday
#PoetzNation
Thought they could bring Him down
But weren't ready for final showdown
Behold! The Lamb of God is not here
& rulers have been gripped with fear
They can't believe He's resurrected
& that His sons have been perfected
Death has no power over us anymore
In Jesus there's life galore

Happy Easter
Good Friday

Pause! Ask self who really's this Man
Who died on cross. Said, "It's done!"
He came on earth with one mission
To restore hope by sins remission
His body on the cross they did nail
So that from death us He could bail
Though some men at Him did mock
To date about Him we still talk!

It's GOOD FRIDAY.On a day like this,Jesus was put on his defence before 3 juries against framed & trumped up charges, setting a stage Where miscarriage of justice happened. What a trial to remember!
