Again thank you to everyone for the engagement around #PolicyBBA. Very disappointed that majority of the School Board Commissioners that attended the meeting this evening value relinquishing their power more than authentic and consistent community engagement. #OurSchoolsOurBoard
Ok I’m sure y’all are annoyed by all of my tweets by now but I need to give one last SHOUT OUT to Commissioner Griffin who was the ONLY person besides Commissioner Horwitz (who changed their vote) to vote against #PolicyBBA stating more community engagement was needed! ✌🏾
Also important to note that the vote on #PolicyBBA was done WITHOUT Commissioner Brooks (policy chair) and Commissioner James-Hassan (policy former chair)
YALLLLLL. I do not know what just happened, but the motion to accept #PolicyBBA didn’t pass initially THANKFULLY because votes were:
Griffin NO
Horwitz NO
Reed ABSTAIN
Richardson YES
Bondima YES
McFadden YES
Chinnia YES
And then Horwitz changed to YES and it passed…
Shout out to the new student Commisioner of the school board talking also about the fact that #PolicyBBA needs to be delayed! Commissioner Horwitz agreed that there is a lot of work that still needs to be done!
@lizbowie #15 is wording from the proposed #PolicyBBA. From my understanding this is the BCPSS school board giving more of their state sanctioned authority to CEO. The power is supposed to solely lie in the hands of the Commissioners. CEO can inform, but Commissioners make final decision.
