Had some photos of my life with Victoria water lily's flowers this CLOSE!
Last night at the closing ceremony banquet, the gardener host (pic4) picked out 2 fresh flowers from the pond. They're huge! White flower is the first day blooming.

After almost a year of growing this very fussy rare water lily species from seeds, one of my Nymphaea thermarum seedlings finally made its first flower bud!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm so excited!!!

I'm bored, so I made a portfolio of all my water lilies collections so far lmao (blue color means I don't have them bloom yet. pics are online pic).
I have way too many!!! AHHH #PolyTub
Think I can single-handedly make this endangered species, N. thermarum, a dime a dozen here in the US LMAO (it's already a very easily available plant in China. Just a bit rare here in the US. I'm trying to propagate it more and it's going well). #PolyTub
Long time no see #PolyTub: let me present you this quirky night blooming water lily species: Nymphaea prolifera.
It can grow small plants directly from its flower (floral vivipary). In these pictures you can see the small plants (with root) and small buds growing out of a bud.
Even though the registration didn't do us well for occupying many attendees from morning panels, I still had a successful panel with folks coming and hearing my nerdy talks 😂 I had a fun time!
Here is the recording for who are interested!

I feel this floating ball of Riccia fluitans deserves to be the attent center of this tub so I wanted to make a negative pressure water column for it. But the cup I had is too short that don't deliver the slender high view 😂
Now it's just a small duck watchtower 😂

Other ppl: Halloween weekends partying stuff
me: oh, my plants arrived today. I gotta plant them all this weekend!
> .>
(nay, I already finished most of them today. Just another new tank of water needs to wait for conditioning, so water lilies can't be put in right now)
The #PolyTub is officially open!
It took me almost a whole day to transplant all plants into my at-home tub. I'm very happy with the result!
🧵Some updates on my #PolyTub (1/?)
Most of the plants have survived through the acclimation to the new environment. Most floating plants do pretty well and grow new leaves. I learned their old leaves and "roots" usually rotted and dissolved. It's normal. They grow new ones.
