BIG NEWS: Today, I introduced legislation to repeal the requirement that eggs sold in Michigan be cage-free and eliminate the mandate requiring farmers and producers to use cage-free systems to raise egg-laying chickens. Egg prices have soared by 36.8% over the past year, with prices reaching a high of nearly $9 per dozen in certain areas. While the spread of bird flu is attributed as the primary driver of these record-high prices, there is no doubt that the added burden of cage-free mandates exacerbates the issue for Michigan consumers. While I cannot promise this legislation will immediately lower egg prices, I can promise it will remove one of the factors contributing to the financial strain on both farmers and families. By giving producers greater flexibility to choose systems that work best for their operations, we are empowering them to focus on rebuilding healthy flocks and stabilizing our state's egg supply. #MILeg #CageFreeEggMandate #Eggs #MISenate

Well, Michigan, today is the first day of lame duck after the Democrats disastrous policies got them booted out of power this January . So now they’re pushing a boatload of horrible bills at high-speed. I voted down many of the democrats terrible bills, but I want to highlight one, I would best describe as the: “The Michigan Public Service Commission- lack of transparency- act.” So, in conjunction with the passage of today’s lack of transparency bill, the Michigan Public Service Commission, which oversees our wonderful utilities, gave DTE a walloping annual big rate increase of $113.8M on the backs of you- the ratepayers! This raise, on top of all of the other raises, seems a reward for all the utilities sterling work of achieving the second worst outages in the nation, achieving among the highest utility rates in the nation, and achieving some of the oldest utility infrastructure in the nation. It’s so comforting that the Democrats now say the MPSC and all these other entities members can simply declare they have a physical or mental handicap and not have to face the music of your face-to-face outrage!
