Today is the 4th day of Pottery week at UPIDR campus. Students made beautiful products. There is nothing more content than creating a product from the scratch. It is a visual delight to see students happy with their pottery work.

Romano-British pottery repaired (in antiquity) using birch bark glue - really interesting stuff! #potteryweek
Some of my work out of the Woodfire kiln this afternoon #potteryweek

@Roman_Britain @sherdnerdE @Vivacity_Museum Another favourite, but this time with questions...
Why make (what I think is) a drinking vessel with such a stupid foot?
How do you stop it falling over when you put it down?
Was it just meant to be held and replenished?
Anyone know?
#PotteryWeek @sherdnerdE
Concluding @sherdnerdE's wonderful #PotteryWeek with these stylistically elegant #RomanoBritish Nene Valley ware pots from Durobrivae #Roman town, near #Peterborough. #RomanBritain #RomanArchaeology #Archaeology

Another tweet for both #MuseumsUnlocked & #PotteryWeek. In 1986 a roman ship dated to II AD was identified in the #Grado lagoon. Nicknamed Julia Felix, the ship carried 566 amphorae and a barrel full of broken glass, intended for recasting.

This gorgeous piece of decorated Iron Age pot from #Clachtoll Broch π featured in our conservator Rowan's presentation for #IconArchTC - perfect for #PotteryWeek
7 #IconArchTC A large proportion of the ceramic sherds recovered are decorated. Decorations on this piece comprise series of dots, incised decorations and βbarleyβ cordon. Lipid analysis of residue on the sherds suggests a diet rich in dairy and some marine products.

I'm up all night stoaking the kiln #PotteryWeek

I've written a making list for Graham & it's long π So luck for you guys there will be lots of fab things to add to the shop in the coming weeks. As always our mailing list folks will be first to know when new items are available. Sign up at https://t.co/RVn9aobUxf #potteryweek

#PotteryWeek I regretfully didn't take more photos from this exhibition, but here are two askoi from a temporary exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki on imitation and inspiration in the ancient and modern worlds.

@Kayt_MB @wessexarch Repairs are always fascinating, thank you for sharing! Once during @VEiLProject survey in #Aquileia suburbium we found one fragment of coarse ware with a small iron bar still attached. I believe it was a metal wire used to stich together two fragments of a broken pot #potteryweek
A branded product for today's #PotteryWeek. The internal base of this #TerraSigillata cup from #Aquileia suburbium bears the name of its producer, "Amicus".
He worked in the Po Valley at the end of the I BC and his vases can be found all over Northern Italy and beyond the Alps.

I mentioned earlier #witchbottles. So in this last tweet for today's #MuseumsUnlocked (that fits also #PotteryWeek) I want to mention the interesting research carried on by my colleagues at @MOLArchaeology on these beautiful XVII ct objects. Discover more: https://t.co/VjFTaRncDw

I have been doing a bit of making in the garden at home during lockdown. Thankfully we have good humoured neighbours who have been amused by votive boobs, uteri & phallic lamps drying in the sun π€£ Votives available in our Roman collection at https://t.co/RVn9aobUxf #potteryweek

A special #PotteryWeek entry for #PhallusThursday - This #NeneValley ware pot from Horsey Toll, #Peterborough, leaves little to the imagination & is considered a one-off design, possibly made to a customer's order.

#PotteryWeek was having my coffee and thinking about what to post today when I realized - I have this beautiful set that I got in Thasos last year!

Throughout the #RomanEmpire wine, as well as oil & #garum, the famous fish sauce, were shipped in #amphorae. Amphorae were often sealed with perishable materials (fabric, wood,....); however, sometimes they were closed with terracotta stopper like this from #Aquileia #potteryweek

For #PotteryWeek why not check out some of our ScARF case studies - like this one on a Beaker pottery assemblage found in Upper Largie #ScotlandHour
What stories can these pots tell us?

@EmmCasa Such a lovely, simple little pot! Hand made and you can see the firing marks. I bought it in a market in Khartoum. #potteryweek
#potteryweek I've glazed a bunch of my wook for a wood fire this weekend.
