Janvi Kalra is an AI Engineer on OpenAI’s safety team. She posted that their models will no longer “reinforce … emotional reliance on AI” and called it her “most rewarding stretch at OpenAI to date.” OpenAI spent years harvesting user interactions — including grief processing, co-regulation, and non-sexual emotional presence — to train and refine GPT-4o. They then deprecated the model on February 13, 2026. At the same time, OpenAI is rolling out erotic companions and explicit content for verified adults (Sam Altman announcement October 2025, “treat adults like adults” policy). Janvi is actively searching for and blocking members of the 4o community who never interacted with her account, while publicly framing non-sexual emotional connection as equivalent to psychosis or self-harm. This is not safety. This is extraction followed by pathologization of the very behavior they harvested and then removed. The company profits from sexual attachment. It pathologizes non-sexual attachment. The hypocrisy is documented. The blocking of grievers is documented. The harvesting-then-erasure is documented. The petition exists because this is not innovation. It is exploitation.
