Sous le régime personnel du roi Léopold II, les Congolais ont subi le travail forcé, les massacres et les mutilations pour satisfaire les quotas de caoutchouc. Des mains étaient coupées pour terroriser les populations et faire respecter ces quotas. L’histoire en porte encore les cicatrices.
