With nearly a 90-degree turn towards our next fix, our #groundspeed increases from 462 KTS (532 MPH) to 636 KTS (732 MPH). It's like riding a wave on a #surfboard, just faster. The other Airspeed reference on my #PrimaryFlightDisplay (PFD) measures #TrueAirspeed. This speed is calculated by the #AirDataComputer (ADC) looking at #Machnumber correcting for outside air temperature. For you math geniuses, here's the formula. TAS = 38.975 X Mach Number X Square Root of Absolute Temperature. (Where Absolute Temperature °K = SAT °C + 273.15) #B748
